About us

Cochrane Rehabilitation & Related Therapies Field

In our 2002 newsletter, we stated that ”a rather interesting development is the formation of ‘core groups’ within our Field. Right from the start our Field has hosted a number of specialties (Rehabilitation Medicine, Speech and Language Therapies, Occupational Therapies, Manual and Physical Therapies). They were and are quite happy to ‘co-habitate’ in the Field, since as professionals they were already used to working together, especially in the area of multidisciplinary treatments. However, now the evidence is growing within each specialty, it is felt that the specialties need a way to address their target audience in a more effective way.”

Now, two years later, a number of these specialties have grown to such an extent that they have become entities in their own right, of which we are very proud.

For the physiotherapy domain we only need to mention the name PeDro, and link you to the most up-to-date and best visited literature site in physiotherapy.

Also the occupational therapies have now launched OTseeker, a similar site like PeDro, and they have established an Occupational Health Field.

The Rehabilitation & Related Therapies Field will continue to host physiotherapy and manual therapy from a multidisciplinary perspective, including the rehabilitation professions.
